| Oliver’s agriculture goes beyond the typical fruit orchards and ground crop farms. Our area’s warm days and cooler nights provide the perfect weather for grape production. That’s right - the fruit of the nectar of the gods is produced right here in Oliver. Actually, Oliver is smack dab in the heart of wine country. There are over 40 wineries in British Columbia; with more than a dozen of them located in the immediate area. You will find many of these wineries along the prestigious "Golden Mile.” This area of land in Oliver is considered to be the best place in which to grow grapes in the whole Okanagan Valley. Antelope Ridge is of special interest because for the sixth consecutive year, they have won a medal at the annual Chardonnay du Monde competition in Burgandy, France. This competition is very prestigious and is of the highest honors for Chardonnay around the world. Gehringer Brothers Estate Winery where you can savor some of Walter and Gordon Gehringer’s award-winning wines. Stop by their Tasting Room to sample their Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet-Merlot. Be a little daring and try their Ehrenfelser, which is flavoured with almond and apricot. The 70 acre Hester Creek Estate Winery has consistently produced award-winning wines. Hester Creek invites you to bring along a picnic and share in the view of the vineyard from the outdoor patio. They are quickly becoming known for their Ice Wines. If you’ve never had Ice Wine, do try one; they are a pleasant surprise to the pallet. Inniskillin Okanagan Wines is a 22-acre estate vineyard. Here you will find high-quality standards in old favorites such as Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chardonnay. Take a tour and find out how it’s done. Silver Sage Winery offers something a little different. Beside some wonderful grape vintages, they also produce a wide assortment of fruit wines. Raspberries, blueberries, cherries and peaches are just some of the local fruits that they turn into a wide assortment of dessert type wines. This is a winery not to be missed! Tinhorn Creek Estate Winery offers self-guided tours and you are encouraged to take your time and bring any queries you may have back to the Tasting Room where the knowledgeable staff can answer them for you while you taste some of their finest selections. Tinhorn also boasts a new 350-seat amphitheater where summer concerts are held. If you feel like taking a hike while your there, staff can point you in the right direction to hike the Golden Mile 10km Trail.
